After over four decades of service, Suzuki has officially discontinued the iconic Suzuki Bolan, affectionately known as the "Carry Dabba" in Pakistan. This vehicle had become a favorite for commercial purposes, including as a school van, ambulance, and delivery vehicle.
Pak Suzuki motors, initiated production of the Suzuki Carry in 1983, part of the 7th generation series. The engine was based on the ST90V version of the Suzuki Carry (also known as Hi-Roof), a 3-cylinders carburettor engine called F8B (796cc) with an output of 37 HP (28 kw). The 4-speed manual transmission allowed for a top-speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). By February 2024 it was available in 3 versions. The Euro II, VX and VXR. The high-spec VXR and Euro II were factory-fitted with air conditioning.
Despite its longstanding popularity, the Bolan's dated design and absence of modern features led to its retirement.
In its place, Suzuki is introducing the Suzuki Every, a more advanced, comfortable, and safer alternative. Set to launch by the end of 2024, the Every marks a new chapter in Pakistan’s automotive industry, offering features that better align with current consumer demands. While the Bolan will always have a nostalgic place in many hearts, the Every represents the future of commercial transport in the country.
Suzuki Every has been around in Pakistan as a JDM (Japanes Domestic Market) import which is equipped with a 660cc engine and many other frills & safety features.
We bid farewell to the Carry Dabba that was known to every Pakistani (for one reason or the other) - regardless of the difference in opinion around whether this step should've been taken sooner. The Suzuki Bolan indeed served us well!
