Introduction
The Hyundai Elantra, also called the Hyundai Avante, is a compact vehicle produced by South Korean automaker Hyundai since 1990. In Pakistan, Hyundai Nishat Motors introduced the Elantra’s 6th generation in 2021, which had originally debuted in Korea in 2015. After a four-year run in Pakistan, this 6th generation model is set to be phased out with the launch of the latest 7th generation, marking the end of its production cycle.
Last week, PAPS 2024 took place in Lahore, showcasing several new car models. Among them, the 7th generation Hyundai Elantra Hybrid stood out as a highlight of the event. The newly launched 7th generation Elantra marks a milestone as the first locally assembled hybrid sedan, signaling a significant shift among automakers toward hybrid and electric models to offer cleaner, smarter mobility solutions for local consumers.
Specifications
So, what sets this variant apart? The 7th generation Elantra is slightly longer and wider than its predecessor and is equipped with a 1580cc hybrid engine, delivering 139 horsepower and 264 Nm of torque. In comparison, the 6th generation’s GLS variant produced 154 horsepower with 195 Nm of torque, while the GL variant offered 126 horsepower and 155 Nm. The fuel tank capacity has also been reduced from 50L to 42L, a fitting adjustment for the hybrid system.
The Elantra Hybrid is a 2WD vehicle featuring a 6-speed Eco Shift (DCT) Dual Clutch Transmission with electronic parking brakes and auto-hold functionality. It offers three drive modes—Eco, Sport, and Smart—and includes a steering wheel with multimedia and cruise control functions.
Additionally, the car is equipped with push start, smart keyless entry, remote engine start, auto dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, heated and ventilated front seats, 8-way power adjustment with 2-way lumbar support for the driver, second-row air conditioning, two Type-C charging ports in the rear, and an electronic traction control system.
